Prof. Tadeusz Popiela, MD, PhD

A doyen of Polish general surgery and surgical oncology. Modern European medicine owes him development of endoscopic surgery, laparoscopy, mid-operational ultrasound scanning, and clinical psychology. The author and co-author of over 1,000 publications, manuals, and addresses delivered during Polish and international conferences. Prof. T. Popiela is one of the most quoted Polish surgeons in foreign academic publications. The member of national, international, and worldwide academic organizations of general surgery, and surgical oncology. Currently he is the Chair of the Academic Council of Polish Oncologic Union, and the President of the International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA). The winner of many prizes, awards, and honorary titles, including "Master and Pioneer of Endoscopic Surgery" given by the European Association of Endoscopic Surgery, and a degree honoris causa of many domestic and foreign universities.

Prof. Bogusław Frańczuk, MD, PhD

Most interested in introducing new instrument access and technologies for broken bones repair, especially intramedullary systems, which he pioneered in Poland, new surgical practices, including minimally invasive orthopaedics, joint and spine replacements, as well as new ideas on rehabilitation after joint replacements. The author of 146 scientific publications connected with orthopaedics and rehabilitation. A member of various associations and academic councils in his field.

 

 

 

 

   
 

Prof . Ryszard Gajdosz, MD, PhD

His professional and academic interests concentrate on treating ICU patients (craniocerebral traumas, communication traumas, severe infections and sepsis, respiratory failures), regional anaesthesia and pain treatment, bleeding disorders, immunological disorders in anaesthetics and intensive care, and emergency medicine. The author and co-author of nearly 500 publications and academic addresses. The co-author of the Polish Programme Hospital-acquired Infections, and Guidelines of Anaesthesiology Conduct within the field of conduction anaesthesia in conditions of perioperative thromboprophylaxis. A member of American Society of Regional Anaesthesia, European Association of Anaesthesiologists, Polish Association of Hospital-acquired Infections, and Polish Academy of Sciences. The vice-president of the managing board of the Polish Association of Emergency Medicine.

   
 

Prof. Antoni Czupryna, MD, PhD

A specialist in digestive system surgery, including surgical oncology, immunochemotherapy of advanced stomach cancer, and public health. The author and co-author of over 200 publications, manuals, and addresses delivered during Polish and international conferences. A member of the Association of Polish Surgeons, Association of European Endoscopic Surgeons, and Polish Medical Association. The president of the Kraków Department of Polish Surgeon Society. Nominated as a member of National Research Council for Poland in the European Scientific Foundation.

 

 

 

   
 

Jerzy Mackiewicz, MD, PhD

A specialist in retina and vitreous humour surgery, as well as diagnostics and treating eye diseases, especially the age-related macular degeneration (AM.D.). The author and co-author of nearly 200 publications, manuals, and addresses delivered during Polish and international conferences. A participant of many academic programmes in leading ophthalmology centres in USA, Denmark, and Germany. A member of many national and foreign academic and specialist societies, including American Society of Retina Specialists, European Vitreoretinal Society, Euretina, and American Society for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology.

 

 

 

   
   

Ryszard Czepko, MD, PhD

Neurosurgeon and neurotraumatologist. His professional and academic interests include vascular neurosurgery, surgical oncology, and spine neurosurgery. He uses the best modern treatment techniques, including microsurgery and minimally invasive treatment. He took many internships and training courses in leading foreign facilities (in Utrecht, Hannover, Freiburg, and Montreal). The owner of the certificate of the European Examination in Neurosurgery. He is an instructor of the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS), and Polish Association of Neurosurgeons. He published numerous academic articles in prestigious magazines both in Poland and abroad, as well in manuals of neurosurgery.

 

 

 

   
   

Prof. Piotr Skotnicki, MD, PhD

He is a specialist in surgical oncology, especially in diagnostics and treatment of breast cancer, melanoma, and sarcoma. The author and co-author of many publications, manuals, and addresses delivered during Polish and international conferences. He participated in many academic internship programmes. A member of many Polish and foreign academic societies. Since 1993 closely connected to the Oncological Centre in Kraków.

 

   
   
 

Prof. Bulanda Małgorzata, MD, PhD

 

A specialist in microbiology, a university lecturer since 1976. Head of the Microbiology Department of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Head of the Epidemiology Unit of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, Head of the Diagnostics Unit of the Jagiellonian University Medical College in Kraków, President of the Polish Hospital-Acquired Infection Association, Vice-Editor-In-Chief of "Zakażenia" (a journal of the Association); court appointed expert for hospital-acquired infections, a member of the examination board for microbiology experts. The author of 150 academic articles, 2 scripts, 150 addresses on Polish and foreign conferences, as well as the co-author of 5 monographs on hospital-acquired infections, and 4 university manuals. The member of the Polish Microbiologist Society, Polish Association of Surgeons (Infections Section), and International Federation of Hospital-acquired Infections.
